What to expect at your Massage Session

Preliminary Information

• You will be asked to fill out an intake form. I will be asking you preliminary questions to determine your overall health and your treatment goals.
• Any information about your physical condition, medical history, lifestyle, stress levels, medications and any areas of physical pain that could affect your massage therapy outcome will help me structure the treatment session. 

Privacy

• Before your massage, you’ll be asked to remove clothing to your level of comfort.
• I will leave the room to wash my hands and provide you privacy to undress. Take off only as much as you are comfortable removing.
• Lie on the massage table, underneath the provided sheets, which will cover your body.  Only areas that are being treated will be exposed.

Environment

• Music might be played. If you find music distracting, tell me . The same goes for talking during your session.
• I will check on pressure and comfort throughout your appointment. If you're uncomfortable at any time, please tell me about it.
• The massage table is padded, and may have extra attachments or cushions, such as a face cradle, which allows you to lie facedown without turning your head or neck.

Massage Therapy Session

• During the massage treatment I will be using oil or lotion. If you're allergic to oils or lotions, tell your therapist beforehand.
• Depending on your needs,  I will be using specific modalities of massage either the full body (except private areas) or only specific areas that need attention, such as especially tight muscles.
• Remember to breathe normally.
• A massage treatment usually lasts between 30 and 90 minutes.
• After your massage, I will step out of the room to wash my hands and allow you to slowly get up and get dressed in privacy. 
• We may review the session and follow up with some self-care stretches

Policies

I appreciate that you’ve chosen me for your massage and bodywork needs. To provide the best service possible to my clients I have implemented the following policies.

Cancellation/ Late Arrival Policy

I respectfully ask that you provide me with a 24 hour notice of any schedule changes or cancellation requests. You will be charged 50% of the service fee for any missed sessions.

Late cancellation due to emergency, illness, or inclement weather will generally not result in any charges, but this is determined on a case-by-case basis. If I need to cancel, you will receive 24 hour notice in advance.

I request that you arrive 5-10 minutes prior to your appointment time in order to fill out any required paperwork as well as answer any intake questions. Arriving after your appointment time may result in loss of time from your massage. Full service fees will be charged even when sessions are shortened due to late arrival.

Insurance Billing

I am a credentialed provider for Regence, Aetna, First Choice, L&I and PIP claims. In order to bill your insurance you will need to provide me with a prescription from a medical Doctor or Chiropractor. That includes all insurance plans, even those stating that patients can “self-refer” for massage care. Patients are responsible for any cost that is not covered by their insurance.

Payment

Cash and Personal Checks are accepted.

Payment is due as treatment sessions are provided.

A $20 fee will be charged to the client in the event of a returned check due to insufficient funds.

Sickness Policy - When not to receive Massage

If you have a cold, flu, fever, are intoxicated or have any other contagious viral or bacterial infection, or  experienced vomiting or diarrhea within 24 hours prior to your appointment time, I request that you cancel your appointment.

Inappropriate Behavior Policy

There is absolutely no sexual component to massage. Massage therapy is for relaxation and therapeutic purposes only. Any insinuation, joke, gesture, conversation, or request otherwise will result in immediate termination of your session and a refusal of any and all services in the future. You will be charged the full service fee regardless of the length of your session. Depending on the behavior exhibited a report will be filed with local authorities if necessary.
